What’s your favorite TV series? Breaking bad. Even my parents love it, and it’s about making meth. Is that bad? No. It’s good, but ends in bad. Check it out if you haven’t yet.
If you could steal a trick from anyone, who would it be and what trick? I really dig Bob Soven’s wrapped toeside backside 180 rewinds. Also I think Dylan Miller’s stance is sexy, but I’m to tall for that, I gotta go wide and get low.
If you were about to drive off a cliff and fall indefinitely, what song would you listen to in the moment? Hmm…Something super aggressive that’s for sure. Bruno Mars? Haha just playing. Maybe I would do “hollow mountain” by Efterklang. It’s a pretty epic jam. Maybe not so aggressive, but definitely epic. The drums get my blood flowing to unusual places.
What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment in wakeboarding thus far? Well right now I have a G23 parked in the backyard that is worth more than every car I've ever owned, combined. That’s definitely been a milestone in my career pairing up with Correct Craft and scoring the sickest boat wakeboarding has ever seen. Other than that, participating in and helping to produce Lipsmack was pretty incredible. That’s something I definitely want to continue to do moving forward.
Would you ever wear a goatee? No. Never. One time I shaved one in good and deep after a 3-4 month beard and the mirror nearly cracked. I couldn’t even leave the bathroom I was so uncomfortable. I just don’t get it. It’d the worst male fashion accessory if you ask me. Oh great, you have a goatee don’t you…? I knew I shouldn’t have said anything.
What’s your favorite product in the Slingshot line? Well I’m definitely a sucker for the Response. It’s the most classic wakeboard shape I’ve ever ridden. Lately though I have been totally hooked on the SP wakesurfer. It’s sick on the boat and in the surf. It’s so rad riding Florida waves on that board and working it while everyone else is sinking on the 6 foot guns. Who do they think they are right? Haha.
What has been your best travel experience for wakeboarding? Body Glove has presented some amazing opportunities over the years. Surfing in Fiji, diving with whale sharks, chilling on the beach watching the pipeline events, and oh yeah, wakeboarding everywhere in between. I also really dig houseboats with no cell service. Being up in the air is really relaxing for me just disconnecting from the world for a bit and taking a chill pill.
What advice would you give to an up and comer in wakeboarding: Focus on your riding. It’s your backbone. Always have a positive attitude and always push forward. If you do it right success will come easy. The only good wine is the drinking kind.
What has been your worst travel experience so far: I wouldn’t say worst but definitely the most memorable was my first trip to the Philippines with filmmaker Patrick Wieland. It took 60 hours, he ripped a huge hole in the ass of his boardshorts 20 minutes into flight # 1, and no, he was not wearing undies. Man that was a weird few days. We finally arrived at about 10 AM and ready to go to bed. Time travel is tough.
