SHREDTOWN IS Chris Abadie, Andrew Adams and Davis Griffin.
How did the shred town crew get started? I believe Shredtown started and we didn't even know. It kind of took us by surprise. Originally, we all lived or had a place on this small lake in east Texas and we all love to wakeboard more than anything. So through Wakeboarding we all became friends and pushed each other to learn new tricks and think of new ways to ride our boards and film it. Filming and editing is Andrew’s passion other than wakeboarding, so we created a blogspot where videos could be posted and viewed. Andrew created some of the sickest edited web video sections out there and they became viral which luckily helped put us on the map and open some doors.
What's the weirdest encounter Shredtown has had with a fan? We meet some crazy people winching. One guy in Oregon would not leave us alone and insisted on helping carry the winch back to the RV. When we get there he says his tire is flat and jumps in without asking. The dude was so loud we all had headaches by the time we dropped him off at a tire shop down the hill. It was like a bad movie or something.
What's the sketchiest stunt you've ever pulled on your board? There is no doubt it was Andrew's 20 foot "Death Gap". We were young, dumb, and testing the possibilities of what could be done wakeboarding. We're lucky we never got hurt worse than we did while trying those things... For some reason when you are young you don’t think you can get hurt.
What's the best part of having your own private wake park? With the System 2.0 we have zero restrictions and endless possibilities. Its just something we couldn’t live without now. However it does get overwhelming looking out under the system and always having to come up with new builds and ideas.
If Shredtown were a three-piece punk band from Venice, CA, would you be the drummer, bassist, or singer? I'd probably slap the bass (Davis). Chris would be on drums for sure. Andrew has a beautiful voice…
They say everything is bigger in Texas, but you guys are not that tall. What's the story there? Ok, we actually just did some research and came across an article that said this whole thing might be a myth... So maybe everything in Texas isn’t bigger?
What's been the biggest accomplishment in wakeboarding so far for you guys? We're just stoked to fit in the puzzle.
Who of the crew crashes the hardest? Not us, it's usually our guests that end up getting smoked. We’re all pretty ninja like and dodge bullets, but I did used to take some diggers. I had this problem where I would land blind off the kicker or wake and do a little bounce back into a nose
Tell us your best travel story... This one night in Portland…There are a lot of strip clubs there, too many I'd say. Phone died, lost, chilled with my homeless homies, and didn't find the RV until 8:00 am. It was epic!
